Slovakia is no longer a junkyard for cars from the West
A specific segment of car sales is trading in used vehicles. In an interview for TREND, the CEO of Aures Holdings Topolová talks about Karolína’s report so far in the company’s year, about changes, what kind of development is involved in the used vehicle market and what kind of development she foresees in the next period.
According to the available information, it seems that all the current economic and political problems are avoiding the sale of used cars. Did it surprise you?
This year’s eleven-month sales figures are the best so far in our thirty-year history. Compared to last year, we sold several thousand more vehicles in the same period, despite all the resulting effects on the economy.
How is it possible?
One of the reasons is certainly the fact that, despite the increase in the price of goods, the prices of used cars in car dealerships have hardly increased at all. In addition, the economic situation will begin to deteriorate, people always want to be interested in used vehicles, when buying which they will save money compared to new ones.
Did you really not even feel the impact of inflation and the war in Ukraine?
I can truly say that the factors that are currently affecting the economy, such as inflation, the repercussions of covid, the lack of new vehicles or the war in Ukraine, have not really been reflected in the segment of used car sales in any fundamental way.
