According to the police, the robbery of the 73-year-old operator of the “Fair Share” aid project in the city of Salzburg has been resolved. After the publication of mug shots – which could also be seen on ORF – there were indications of a 21-year-old Serb. It is being checked whether he visited the poor relief container on December 1 as a thief.
The suspect was arrested by police officers on Wednesday in a public building in Salzburg’s Elisabethvorstadt. Investigators said he was partially self-confessed.
Brutal attack on poor relief workers
Last Thursday, the robber entered the container on Mirabellplatz in which the 73-year-old collected sums of money for the needy. The perpetrator injured the former pastoral assistant with punches. He robs his wallet, which contains around 2,000 euros in cash, and flees with the loot.
The 21-year-old suspect, who lives in the city of Salzburg, was taken to the Salzburg prison in Puch (Tennengau) after the arrest. It is still unclear whether it is the man who stole around 200 euros from the donation container on December 1st. The police could not provide any information on Wednesday.
“Fair Share” was founded in 2013 for people in great need.
