“Even the walls say it”
School students and young people from San Marino, with their drawings against violence against women and gender, participated in the competition organized by USL and UCS “Even the walls say it”, culminating in the award ceremony at the end of 2021, thus demonstrating to have a new look that makes you feel strong the commitment and courage to make a contribution so that the future is really better. Unfortunately, the news continues to be full of macabre episodes of violence which are the tip of the iceberg of difficult situations where fear causes future victims not to report but try to move forward in some way, hence the awareness of the new generations it is the project on which we should bet most of our cards. The imagination of young people is powerful when they question the dark side of the adult world and reproduce the essence of pain and suffering on paper. Their design is almost a revolutionary gesture. Through art, children have had the opportunity to make their voices heard, leave a mark, expressing themselves on a theme that too often concerns them closely, sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly but always with devastating repercussions. The blow-up exhibited in the window of the USL headquarters, which depicts the award-winning drawings ex aequo, is the start of work to create a mural / blow-up in each Castle. The panel, which will remain on permanent display at the USL headquarters, will be visible to everyone from the outside. Every human being is unique; differences exist and must be recognized and respected. “It was a pleasure – said USL Secretary General Francesca Busignani – to create a panel that gives the right visibility to the drawings that won the 2021 competition ex aequo, effectively starting the countdown for the other murals / blowups. It was like listening to the strong, raw but at the same time poetic voice of the boys, who in a threatened and fragile world like crystal, still know how to show the way towards a new horizon. It is in these drawings that the key to open the door to change is hidden. For this they deserve to be exhibited and for this, in addition to the panel that will remain a precious heritage not only of USL and UCS but of the whole community, in every Castle, in the short term, thanks also to the strong commitment of all the Captains of the Castle, of USL and UCS , a mural / blow-up will be created, so that the walls also act as a barrier to the barbarity of violence against women “.
