Radstadt buys property worth millions from Post
Business
After St. Johann (Pongau) and Pfarrwerfen (Pongau), Radstadt (Pongau) is now also the owner of a post office property. The municipality was awarded the contract in a multi-stage bidding process and bought the 3,000 square meter property for EUR 2.25 million.
Although it is one million euros above the purchase price, after consultation with St. Johann it was clear that the post office building would not be cheap, says Radstadt Mayor Christian Pewny (FPÖ). St. Johann already bought a post office building in 2020 for 3.5 million euros.
Location interesting for community
The location of the Radstadt property is interesting for the municipality, says Pewny – the building is near the historic old town. There is also an approximately 1,000 square meter vacant lot right next to it that is also of interest. Taken together, they offered many new uses.
According to the mayor, there are no concrete plans. However, the considerations went in the direction of an underground car park, event hall and business premises. In any case, the post should be preserved. The unlimited rental contract continues. In the coming year, the municipal council will discuss how the property could be expanded.
