Only team from the 2nd division qualified
Racing Power is the only 2nd division team remaining in the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup. The team coached by João Marques, who took Valadares, is now waiting to find out which of the first division clubs it will face: Benfica, Sporting, Sp. Braga, Famalicão, Amora, Damaiense or Clube Albergaria.
After the triumph of the Seixal team, on Saturday, in Gaia, by 1-0, there were no more surprises yesterday in the round of 16 of the Portuguese Women’s Cup and there was a rain of goals: 26 in seven games. As you can see above, Benfica and Sporting won by the same result (2-0), in the visits to Länk Vilaverdense and Ouriense, respectively.
Already the Sp. Braga went to the Algarve to eliminate Guia, 4-0, with a hat-trick by Laura Luís. Avanço de 30 anos scored at 26′, 45’+4 and 64′, with Vitória Almeida scoring the other goal for the Arsenal players. But a main note of prominence goes to the rout of Damaiense in the trip to Barreiro. Tomás Tengarrinha’s team brought the team from the 2nd division with a dozen goals. Amora didn’t make it easy and won by 4-1, removing Marítimo from the competition, in the third meeting between teams from the 1st Division. Of the rest, Famalicão won Cadima (2nd), as did Clube Albergaria, who beat V. Guimarães by 1-0.
