Mário Costa And Joana Monteiro Are The Winners Of The Portuguese Cyclocross Cup
Mário Costa and Joana Monteiro, both from Axpo/FirstBike Team Vila do Conde, won today the 2022 edition of the Portuguese Cyclocross Cup. I was also awarded in the fifth and last scoring event, held in Ansião.
Mário Costa and Joana Monteiro are the winners of the Portuguese Cyclocross CupIf the winner of the Cup had been among the women’s elite since yesterday, among the men Mário Costa needed to confirm his favoritism on the track. And he did it perfectly.
Mário Costa crossed the goal alone, thus joining the Portuguese Cup to the National Championship, won at the beginning of the year. The runner from the Vilacondense team reached the end with 43 seconds ahead of Roberto Ferreira (Guilhabreu BTT) and 53 seconds ahead of Vítor Santos (Axpo/FirstBIke Team/Vila do Conde).
The elite women’s race had Joana Monteiro an undisputed winner. The Minho won all the scoring events for the Portuguese Cup. Today she distanced herself to leave teammate Catarina Lopes at 4m01s and Jéssica Costa (Guilhabreu BTT) at 5m16s.
In the young participants, the winners in Ansião were also the best in the general classification of the Cup. It happened with the sub-23 João Cruz (Axpo/FirstBike Team/Vila do Conde), with the juniors Rafael Sousa (Guilhabreu BTT) and Beatriz Guerra (BTT Loulé/Elevis) and with the cadets Gonçalo Rodrigues (Landeiro/KTM/Matias & Araújo/Frulact) and Margarida Vasconcelos (Axpo/FirstBike Team/Vila do Conde).
In the masters, we also saw those who won the Cup triumph in Ansião. The one happened in the masters 40. In today’s race, Irina Coelho (Freebike Shop exception/Bike Clube S. Brás) won, but the general went to Virgínia Moreira (Saertex Portugal/Edaetech).
The remaining veterans with reasons for celebrating are the 30 masters Augusto Midão (Rompe Trilhos/Ajpcar) and Ana Barata, the 40 masters Rogério Matos (Rompe Trilhos/Ajpcar), the 50 masters António Passos (Rompe Trilhos/Ajpcar) and Natália Mendes ( Freebike Shop/Bike Clube S. Brás) and master 60 Joaquim Pinto (Silva & Vinha/ADRAP/Sentir Penafiel).
The Portuguese cyclo-cross calendar ends with the National Championship, which will be held in Vouzela on the 15th of January.
