“The short break was good”! – Hockey-News.info – All news about national and international ice hockey
EC Red Bull Salzburg continues the regular season of the win2day ICE Hockey League after a one-week break on Sunday with the home game against the Moser Medical Graz99ers (4:30 p.m., ICE live stream).
After two days off at the beginning of the week, the Red Bulls resumed an intensive training program on Wednesday and are preparing for Sunday’s home game against the Moser Medical Graz 99ers. The Red Bulls want to be successful again – a week ago they won at home against leaders Innsbruck 5-1 – and maintain contact with the top of the table, especially since they are not playing today while Innsbruck and other teams from the top third of the table contest the next round.
Salzburg still have a score to settle with Graz. They beat Styria 3-0 at home at the end of September, but lost 1-0 in Graz on November 20 – just two days before the second leg of the CHL round of 16 against Rögle BK in Sweden. Although Salzburg had enough opportunities in Graz to decide the party differently, they did not find their way into the goal.
It should be different this time, agrees Florian Baltram: “We definitely want to win the game again. We keep it that way that we don’t look so much at the Grazers, but concentrate on getting our best performance. That includes playing as a team and scoring goals.” But caution is advised; the Styrians are currently in 9th place and after the last two home defeats against the Pioneers Vorarlberg and Pustertal they will be eager to score again. Tonight they receive table leaders Innsbruck in the Graz bunker.
But the conditions are right, especially since the Red Bulls have recharged their batteries, says the striker: “The short break was good. In training we did a lot of ice skating and practiced duels. This intensive boost was good, we needed it and now we are ready for Sunday.” Only the convalescents Ty Loney, Troy Bourke and Paul Huber as well as Aljaž Predan (ill) will not be there. It starts in the Salzburg Ice Arena at 4:30 p.m.
