Rimini: Istituto Lettimi becomes Conservatory
L’‘Lettimi’ musical institute in Rimini has officially become State Conservatory. It currently counts 165 students enrolled and the merger with the ‘Maderna’ of Cesena will soon take place. Its establishment dates back to 1825 come municipal school. For almost two centuries it has been offering excellent training which in recent years has also attracted students from other regions and abroad. It is the only provincial institution that can issue recognized academic musical titles. In the 80s of the last century, the Lettimi from high school became a musical institute. Now it is to all intents and purposes the State Conservatory of Music and this morning the new plaque was unveiled in the presence, among others, of the mayor of Rimini Jamil Sadegholvaad.
“First of all, it is an opportunity for the city of Rimini, because the transformation into a state conservatory opens possibility of musical and cultural artistic development for the whole city and for the whole territory”, says the director on the sidelines of the event Ludovico Bramanti. Up until now, Lettimi was a balanced institute, “and therefore already grants first and second level degrees like all state conservatories”, specifies the director. Given its small size, the ministry is forced to merge with the Cesena conservatory “by the end of 2023”. “It is one of the smallest realities in Italy – specifies Bramanti – and therefore precisely for this reason the merger with Cesena is important with a view to optimizing resources and enriching the training offer. This will involve a merger of personnel and a functioning fully conjoined”.
