Moedas says that “it would not be serious” to quantify “only roughly” benefits in Lisbon — DNOTICIAS.PT
The mayor of Lisbon today compared “quantifying only roughly” the damage from bad weather, considering the “very large” dimension of the city’s territory, and said that “it would not be serious” to go ahead with a number.
The size of Lisbon – Lisbon is the capital of the country – is too big for us to quantify it only in outline. things very, very, very well”, declared Carlos Moedas (PSD), referring that the municipality is waiting for this information, through the damage survey that runs until Thursday, December 21, at www.lisboa.pt/ damage survey.
The mayor spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the debate “How to implement Transparency and Prevention of Corruption in Lisbon City Council?”, which took place at Teatro Aberto, having been asked, insistently, about the absence of phone calls with the Prime Minister, António Costa (SP).
Carlos Moedas confirmed that he neither made nor received a phone call to António Costa, who as a resident of Lisbon also suffered flooding at home, and downplayed the situation, noting that as mayor he was present “in the most serious occurrences” and had phone calls from other members of the Government, namely the Minister of Internal Administration, José Luís Carneiro, and the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa.
For this reason, he said, the municipality had “this follow-up, in a way”.
Questioned about the absence of visits by members of the Government to the municipality of Lisbon, as happened in Loures (chamber presided over by Ricardo Leão, from the PS) and in Oeiras (under the presidency of the independent Isaltino Morais), the PSD mayor relativized: “How visits are visits. I will be very happy to receive members of the Government, […] but nothing is marked.”
“We are not going to take this to a personal case or a phone call. I, for my part, am fine. politics, but above all, it blurs what is important in this situation, which are the people, the difficulties, the damage they have suffered”, said Carlos Moedas, reinforcing that it is now in their interest to help people from Lisbon and reiterating the Government’s request for support.
The intense and persistent rain that fell on Tuesday caused more than 3,000 occurrences, including floods, tree falls and road cuts, affecting mainly the districts of Lisbon, Setúbal, Portalegre and Santarém.
