If there was a war in Slovakia, Fico would run away in a Mercedes – Ľudmila Križanovská
“They came in expensive cars. They demand free health care. In restaurants, they leave a lot of uneaten food on the tables. They wear designer clothes. We live paycheck to paycheck. We buy only the cheapest food. We cannot pay for water and energy. There is a threat of layoffs in our work. Why doesn’t the government care
about us Slovaks, but instead we send money to Ukraine? Am I an extremist only because I am against the war and the supply of weapons to Ukraine? I work for minimum wage and I can’t afford the same car.”
And we start and read similar comments slowly at every corner. Recently, during lunch together, I took the liberty of arguing with an acquaintance of mine from the opposite opinion spectrum that expensive cars and houses will not protect anyone from bombing. And that the people who came to us are far from all as rich as trying to present the information war.
No, the goal of this blog is not to mock Slovaks who have found themselves in a difficult life situation. However, many of these people got used to the fact that the state took care of everything under socialism. And at the same time, nowadays, we have a huge number of opportunities. A healthy person these days really doesn’t need to earn minimum wage as long as they are at least a little interested in learning new things. But for this group of people, it is to look outside themselves to blame. They do not understand that the aggressor who attacked a sovereign country is responsible for the price increase. Or I understand it very well, but they prefer to say something else.
It is likely that early elections will be held in Slovakia soon. Some are happy, others are disappointed. Pro-Russian opposition parties, which have long opposed aid to Ukraine, will probably come to power. Parties whose representatives have their mouths full of helping the poor in Slovakia, but their people don’t matter. Their main goal was the overthrow of the government, which they ultimately succeeded in doing. No, in this article I will not criticize the SAS and the progressives for their decision. They probably had their reasons for it. And I believe that they themselves do not want Fico back. However, he took a second breath and sensed his chance. He will finally be able to deal with the NAKA investigators and install his police chief. Fico does all this primarily for himself, he knows how to estimate the mood in society and adapt his rhetoric accordingly. Unlike Mečiar or Slotu, even after many years, he has his loyal base of voters who will not let him down. And Vladimir Solovyov, the main face of Russian propaganda, apparently won’t let him. He enthusiastically shares his video. This is not really possible for any politician! Finally, we Slovaks (thanks to Mr. Fico) also have a lead in something.
I don’t even dare to guess in which direction our foreign policy will develop further. When the worst scenario comes true, Russia will have another loyal ally in Europe in a few years.
