Weather, Northern Norway | Closed school and roads in Northern Norway after weather chaos: – It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such snow chaos
In Troms and Finnmark there is real weather chaos on Friday. There are reports of snowdrifts and several closed roads and mountain passes, while the plowing crews are working at full capacity.
Ferry departures have also been canceled and on Norway’s second largest island Senja, there are reports of very challenging driving conditions.
– I grew up on the outskirts of Senja and used to bad weather, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen such snow chaos. It’s hard to stand up quickly, but it’s fine if I don’t get to work yet. Surely no one does that, says Espen Grande, who was on her way to work when he drove fast Senja24.
Several schools in Senja have also notified parents that the children must be kept at home on Friday, writes Fthe oil leaf. Folkebladet also writes that the municipality has put on full alert as a result of the polar low pressure.
– The combination of large amounts of snow and wind creates challenges. If you can stay at home, then maybe this is the day, says VTS Security Officer Kristin Storrø Northern Lights.
