Because of marriage opening: Archbishop of Liechtenstein cancels Mass with MPs
Church anger about the possible opening of marriage in the Principality of Liechtenstein: Because a large majority of state parliamentarians are in favor of opening marriage to same-sex couples as well, Vaduz Archbishop Wolfgang Haas is canceling the traditional service for state parliamentarians – and making propaganda in the church’s official gazette against same-sex lovers.
The state parliament is too LGBTI-friendly for the Liechtenstein church prince
A few weeks ago, the Liechtenstein parliament asked the government with an overwhelming majority to draw up a draft to open up marriage: 23 out of 25 MPs were in favor of making possible in Liechtenstein what is already happening in the two neighboring countries Austria and Switzerland.
Archbishop Haas is now resisting this: He explained in an article in the church’s official gazette that the time had come for him “to refrain from the so-called Holy Spirit Office for the opening of the state parliament sessions”, since the service in the planned one would depend on the voting behavior of the MPs “no longer makes sense on a vital matter of Christian ethics.”
The “pseudo-marriage” of same-sex couples contradicts “natural law”
The “pseudo-marriage” of same-sex couples contradicts “the natural feeling, the reasonable natural law and in particular the Christian understanding of man, as it corresponds to the divine order of creation,” said the archbishop.
Because, assuming Haas, the opening of marriage “with all the associated excesses” would also lead to a “moral dam break” in schools and kindergartens. This is “already noticeable in various countries” in which “gender and LGBT propaganda has reached schools”.
The Archbishop is considered one of the loudest opponents of LGBT rights in the Principality of Liechtenstein. He had already declared in September that he saw the fight against the opening of marriage as a “sacred duty”. In the summer, Haas boycotted a company dinner with the mayor of the municipality of Schaan because the principality’s first Pride was taking place there and the politicians were taking part there.
