Taxi drivers in Istanbul were punished! Interesting defense from the drivers of opening the taximeter: We think it is forbidden
Inspections for taxis across Istanbul were tightened. Taxis that accept foreign passengers as customers instead of Turks, do not pick up passengers on the excuse of distance, clear the meter and negotiate with departure are fined.
In Taksim Square, the teams of the Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Police Department carried out a joint inspection of commercial taxis.
Penalties rained down on those who negotiated with the taximeter and walking during the inspections.
During the inspections, administrative fines of 1,283 TL were administered to 8 taxi drivers, and they were taken by tow trucks.
“We Agreed On The Price, I Didn’t Know It Was Forbidden”
During the inspections, without turning on the taximeter, a taxi driver said, “I am a taxi driver for only two months, I do not know the rules. However, the taxi driver could not escape the penalty. (UAV)
