Another day of blue water in Melbourne where the gold does not arrive, but Italy is always on the podium. The first to get on it is Alessandro Miressi, bronze in the 100 Style, a race that had seen him champion a year ago. Ahead of him finished the winner, home athlete Kyle Chalmers. Second place for Frenchman Maxime Grousset. Miressi’s third place with the same time that earned him the title a year ago, and Alberto Razzetti’s fourth.
The 200m butterfly race is in fact one of great regrets. The South African Chad Le Clos wins it in 1’48”27, ahead of the Japanese Naiya and the Swiss Ponti. Alberto Razzetti by a hair’s breadth off the podium. The 100m dolphin is won by the American Lilly King in 1’02”67 on the Dutch Schouten in silver and the German Elendt in bronze. Before the end of the program, two silver medals for Italy.
4×50 style it is actually a nuanced gold with Miressi-Deplano-Ceccon in full swing and less well Frigo reassembled in the finish. Anyway Italy second. Come second in the 100 dolphin finishes Nicolò Martinenghi. To win the American Fink author of a great start that put him away from rivalry attempts. Martinenghi silver, British bronze Adam Peaty. In the final of the 100 dolphins Simone Cerasuolo was also present, sixth.
