Uphill & downhill: A simple winter ski tour to the Aignerhöhe
Admittedly, you will rarely find mountain solitude on a ski tour to the 2104 meter high Aignerhöhe in the Zederhauser Großkesseltal. But the summit slope is wide, very wide. There is usually still room left for your own track.
Zederhaus hasn’t been an insider tip for years, and the Aignerhöhe as a relative, easy ski tour suitable for beginners is certainly not. The selection of tours in the small community is enormous: Depending on how you count, you can get 60 or more independent ski tours. And: The relatively high starting position and the weather-favorable location also offers a high degree of snow security. Favorable weather means in this case: In north-westerly weather conditions, one or the other snow cloud drifts over the main Alpine ridge to Zederhaus and if the snow comes from the south, the people of Zederhaus also get some of it.
Weather-favoured Großkesseltal
Requirement: Easy high winter tour. 750 meters in altitude and 2.5 hours ascent.
Starting point/arrival: On the A10 to Zederhaus (from the north exit Zederhaus, from the south via St. Michael) and from Zederhaus into the valley to the car park at the end of the valley in Wald (1350m). Please park here carefully, do not block driveways and observe driving bans.
Lots of space for your own track
Route: From the car park across the road to the toll booth in the Riedingtal, then at a sharp angle on the Almstraße to the Neuseßwirtalm. Here also via the shortcut from the Jägerkeusche to the north. Then into the valley into the Großkesseltal to the Muhreralmen. From the Muhreralmen a steep step to the east is overcome via an alpine path up to the Aigneralm. Then it goes to a high-voltage pylon and over a beautiful, wide slope up to the broad ridge of the summit. Descend as ascent.
Tour planning with the ski tour guru
Tip for route planning: The route to the Aignerhöhe can also be found on the platform www.skitourenguru.ch (see screenshot in the picture gallery). This platform links the selected tour with the current avalanche situation report and thus offers an automated avalanche risk assessment for the selected tour. The Skitourenguru is a decision-making aid when planning, but does not replace the risk assessment on the tour. A short summary of Skitourenguru can be found here here on the website of the Board of Trustees for Road Safety.
