#MoreWärFair: Nationwide vigil is running at locations throughout Salzburg
ÖGB, Salzburg Chamber of Labor and trade unions are holding a vigil at several locations in the Salzburg regions under the motto “#MoreWärFair”. They warn against heading towards a supply problem in the health and social sectors and also renew their demand for better working and framework conditions in these professions.
SALZBURG. At the same time, since 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, December 14, the ÖGB, in cooperation with the Salzburg Chamber of Labor and the trade unions, has been organizing a vigil under the motto “#MoreWärFair”
The campaign locations on December 14, 2022:
- City of Salzburg: AK/ÖGB house
- Tennengau: AK/ÖGB house
- Pongau: Cardinal Schwarzenberg Clinic (employee car park)
- Pinzgau: Maxi market Bruck ad Glocknerstrasse
- Lungau: State Clinic Tamsweg (Terrace)
Together they want to recall the tense situation in the health, social, care and nursing professions for a long time and also remember an action exactly one year ago: It was on December 14th, 2021, when according to the ÖGB Salzburg In Salzburg, a torchlight procession was held with 2,500 participants “to send a shining signal for better working and general conditions in care and support”. The day after, the #MoreWärFair petition was handed over to the Salzburg state parliament with 14,136 signatures.
Since then there have been announcements on the part of politicians to achieve improvements in care and support, but according to the ÖGB Salzburg “there is still no improvement for the first to be felt”. The shortage of staff is becoming more and more acute, which is why more and more beds in social and health facilities have to be blocked. “We are thus heading towards a supply problem in the health and social sectors,” says the statement from the ÖGB Salzburg.
“#MoreWärFair” was also a topic in the state parliament
The Social, Society and Health Committee in the Salzburg State Parliament also dealt with an urgent SPÖ motion regarding “# MehrWärFair” on Wednesday. According to the Landes-Medienzentrum Salzburg, This unanimously decided on an application with the following wording:
“The Salzburg state government is requested to approach the federal government with the demand to amend the Pay Increase Purpose Grant Act – EEZG to the effect that the additional salary provided for therein or subsidized with it can be paid out in full; all relevant professional groups working in care are eligible as recipients for the wage-increasing measure; the measures to improve the framework conditions for the nursing staff, which were developed taking into account the union in Nursing Platform II, were quickly implemented.”
