Avignon tramway: report on the works of section 2
The route of phase 2, extension of thesingle line of the Avignon tramwhich leaves from the current terminus, near the Remparts, to cross the alleys of Oullethe Daladier bridge to reach the Ile Piot car park, is experiencing a schedule report. The last community council shifts this project to delivery hitherto planned for 2025 and with a budget of €56.6 million, which has nevertheless been completed. The president of Greater Avignon, Joël Guin, has announced that he wants to finalize, beforehand, the construction of the relay car parks and their rapid connections by Chron’Hop bus currently under construction. The conurbation has currently integrated a 320-space park-and-ride car park in Agroparc, then, at the start of 2024, will launch the construction of two additional areas of 350 spaces each, celle des Angles instead of the current carpooling area and that of the Réal Panier roundabout for delivery at the end of 2024. Joël Guin specifies that he will then take “ a waiting time to see the impact of traffic on Avignon “.
Avignon tramway: funding for phase 2 completed
This phase 2 also provided for another major project, the complete reconfiguration of the alleys of Oulle with the creation of a vast esplanade of the Remparts au Rhône, with a reduction in car traffic. If some elected officials are wondering about the future of this last section, the president of Grand Avignon also announces the start, in 2023, of a study on the realization of an extension of the tram network towards the hospital of Avignon. The initial project of a line 2 towards Pontet has, for its part, disappeared from current projects.
