Portugal without weather warnings due to rain, but only until tomorrow
The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority warns of worsening weather starting this Wednesday morning.
In the balance made at the end of the day, Commander André Fernandes understood that “in the next few hours we will have a regime of punctually moderate showers, with an increase in maritime permanence”.
At the end of the afternoon, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) issued yellow and orange warnings because of the rain.
The warnings map is painted in green, without warnings because of the rain, with the exception of the autonomous region of Madeira.
Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja and Faro continue with a yellow warning, but due to maritime obligations.

In view of the forecasts, ANEPC maintains alert for the basins of the Minho, Lima, Cávado, Ave and Douro rivers, and, in this particular case, commander André Fernandes warns that “it is beginning to have enough inflows not only in the basin in mainland Portugal but also already in Spain”.
“There is a large increase in flow which, in conjunction with the tide, could have some potential risk at the mouth of the Douro”.
2,777 occurrences and 82 displaced
Until 19:00 on Tuesday, the Civil Protection accounted for a total of 2,777 occurrences.
Lisbon, Santarém and Setúbal. There is a record of a serious injury in Alcântara and a total of 82 displaced in the municipalities of Loures, Odivelas, Cartaxo, Coruche, Seixal and Almada.
“Long days” to normalcy
Civil Protection expects long working days to report normality, starting tonight to ensure that the worsening weather forecast for Wednesday “does not have such a big impact”.
The national commander, André Fernandes, said that waiting for the next few hours, in which a calm in the bad weather is expected, is that of “a night of work”, of preparation and prevention for the worsening of the meteorological conditions foreseen between 9:00 am and at 18:00 this Wednesday.
“We hope it’s a night of work, where the rehabilitation actions will be fundamental to guarantee that this critical period tomorrow does not have such an impact as it did today”, said André Fernandes.
According to the national commander, the work to ensure the replacement of normality will last for days.
“We are waiting for long days of work in cooperation with the different entities and also with the population. We are going to keep the device until it is necessary”, he said, needing to keep stabilization and water withdrawal work on the ground.
