Organic meals at school without cost increases, Emilia-Romagna receives the highest share of the National Fund
For the fifth consecutive year, theEmilia Romagna goes the highest quota envisaged by the 2022 allotment of National fund for organic school canteens: 1 million and 244 thousand euros of resources out of a total of 5 million. The Regional Council has approved the 2022 allocation of funds from the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies to local administrations that offer the service of organic school meals, assigning 1 million and 236 thousand euros to the beneficiary municipalities. These are resources that serve to cover the higher costs incurred for the delivery of organic meals without increasing the cost of school meals paid for by families.
“Fundamental resources to increase the quality of service in school catering – comments the regional councilor for agriculture, Alessio Mammi – without affecting the household economy, but above all to promote a greater awareness compared to power supply. We are the first Region in Italy for the number of organic meals distributed in school canteens, confirming the commitment with which we have been supporting the principles of organic farming and the use of healthy products for years”.
The allocated funds assign approximately 8 million 800 thousand meals provided in the last school year and are calculated on the basis of the number of beneficiaries of the school canteen service in each territorial area and relating to the contracting authorities that manage the organic school canteens, in possession of the requisites provided for by the ministerial decree.
