Meloni, the goal is more Italy in Europe and not vice versa
The Prime Minister intervenes in the Chamber, in view of the European Council. “We have always debated, sometimes decisively, vehemently, around the hypothesis that there should be more or less Europe in Italy. We have almost never asked ourselves whether there should be more or less Italy in Europe. Our goal, rather than more Europe in Italy, it’s more Italy in Europe, as befits a great founding nation,” he said Giorgia Meloni, to then recall how the goal is an energy security path” on which “Italy has been in the front row for months for a dynamic price ceiling. For now, the European Commission’s response is unsatisfactory and unfeasible.
“The United States recognizes Europe’s role as partner of first instance. The Ukrainian crisis has shown how, in the face of threats, the unity and political role of the Union is essential. Italy supports closer cooperation between the EU and the Atlantic Alliance, and a renewed unity of purpose in sectors of common interest”.
On migrants, the premier explains how theItaly to bear the greater burden dealing with human trafficking in the Mediterranean. “We don’t intend to pretend that this is okay. When we read of firefights between Libyans and human traffickers or smugglers who throw migrants overboard, we are increasingly convinced that enriching these cynical slavers of the third millennium has nothing to do with the concept of solidarity”. Also take a look at situation in Iran: “The use of force against peaceful demonstrators, against women is unjustifiable and above all unacceptable. This government will always be committed to defending and respecting human rights and fundamental freedoms”. Meloni reiterated, denouncing the execution of the death sentences and the repression of the Tehran government.
