Freilassing/Salzburg: EU funding for 11 new small projects in the EUREGIO Salzburg
In the new INTERREG VI A program of the European Union to promote cross-border cooperation Austria – Bavaria 2021-2027, projects up to 100,000 euros can also be funded at the EUREGIO level. A newly established EUREGIO decision-making body makes the decision on the allocation of funding.
The message in full:
Freilassing/Salzburg – The new EUREGIO decision-making body consists of ten voting and ten advisory members from across the EUREGIO area. After the end of the first submission period, the committee was able to meet for the first time on December 5th in Salzburg after the INTERREG Secretariat in Linz and the EUREGIO had checked the applications for funding. Chaired by EUREGIO President Mayor Norbert Meindl (Lofer), a total of 11 new projects with a total funding volume of around 330,000 euros in EU money were approved. With a funding rate of 75 percent from the EU funding program INTERREG Bavaria-Austria 2021-2027, this corresponds to a total cost volume of the projects of around 440,000 euros. The basic requirements for an application are at least one project partner from both sides of the border and a cross-border impact of the project in the program area of INTERREG Bavaria/Austria.
The approved projects consist of two small and four medium-sized projects as well as five encounter measures (so-called people-to-people projects). As part of the strategic focus “Climate neutrality through circular economy at local and regional level”, the municipalities of Fridolfing, St. Georgen near Salzburg and St. Pantaleon are conducting a feasibility study for a new cycle and pedestrian footbridge over the Salzach. In another project the Flachgau Nord regional association and the two districts of Berchtesgadener Land and Traunstein are working with the Resource Forum Austria to develop a network and platform to raise awareness of regional reuse. In the focus “Strengthening the business location through networking in connection with a cross-border (further) education offer”, Coworking Salzburg complements the start-up and founder scene with the Berchtesgadener Land Wirtschaftsservice, Innovation Salzburg, Dominik Jäger – Kreativgeist Coworking Freilassing and the professional training institute Salzburg a year-round support program.
In the area of networked, sustainable tourism, the cities of Laufen and Oberndorf and their partner GI Plus will implement a virtual themed trail on the Salzachschleife in order to make cultural and historical features tangible for guests and locals with modern technologies. The Salzkraft Salzburger Kraftwagen Verkehrsgesellschaft wants a new visitor-directing offer with the Hallein Tourist Association and the Association Bergerlebnis Berchtesgaden create by realizing a hop on hop off bus line Salzburg – Berchtesgaden – Hallein. An even larger-scale marketing activity concerns the SalzAlpenSteig, which, as a certified premium hiking trail, connects Lake Chiemsee with Lake Königssee and Lake Hallstatt. For this space of experience, the cross-border organization wants to implement a new, holistic design approach with appropriate marketing and for social media use.
The five approved meeting concerns culture, education and society. The “Cinema without Borders” projects from the Loferer Kulturverein Binoggl together with the Park-Kino Bad Reichenhall or a networking meeting for adult education institutions organized by the Salzburg Rural Training Institute and the Traunstein Chamber of Crafts can count on EU funding. The same applies to the music theater Maria Magdalena by the cross-border gospel choir “Spirit of Joy” from Laufen, a nature and technology-oriented educational trip for 13-18 year oldsorganized by the association MIND from Bischofshofen, which is also organized across borders, and an event by Innovation Salzburg with the Siegsdorf company Shred Rack to bring together start-ups in the field of sport and innovation.
Do you also want to carry out a project with your Austrian or Bavarian neighbors? Clubs and schools, but also communities or other organizations of life are thematically no limits to the ideas for cross-border encounter measures (so-called people to people or p2p projects) that have been added in this funding period. They can come from all walks of life, only the project costs are limited to 5000 euros. The aim is to get citizens of Drent and Herent in their areas bring together everyday life and thus to promote the exchange between people across borders. The situation is different thematically with small and medium-sized projects with project costs of up to 100,000 euros. You must correspond to one of the three main topics of the EUREGIO border region strategy (see fact box) in order to apply for funding. The next submission period runs until spring 2023 and projects can be submitted at any time. The team at the EUREGIO office will be happy to support and advise you from the project idea through to project accounting.
