Triumph by expressive numbers in the Portuguese Cup
Lions beat UF Entroncamento and advance to the last 16 (2-11)
Sporting Clube de Portugal’s main men’s roller hockey team stamped their passport for the round of 32 of the Portuguese Cup, this Sunday, by beating UF Entroncamento by 2-11 in a match counting for the Round of 32 of the Queen competition.
The first goal at Pavilhão Albano Mateus belonged to Ferran Font, in the fifth minute, but in the 14th minute, the team that plays in the second division managed to score the tie through Francisco Maia. In the 19th minute, João Almeida returned the advantage to the Leões (1-2), a goal to which the home team could even have responded close to half-time, with a direct free-kick, but Zé Diogo saved it.
In the second half, everything changed. Sporting CP then took off for a quiet triumph, scoring nine more goals. Henrique Magalhães scored a hat-trick (30′, 32′ and 38′), Alessandro Verona ‘doubled’ (27′ and 28′), Toni Pérez (33′) scored and João Almeida reached second in his personal account (37′ ), with João Souto closing the scoring with another ‘encore’ (41′ and 42′). Already about three minutes from the last horn, Mário Azevedo was present for UF Entroncamento.
The Lions are back in action next Saturday, December 17th, against Riba D´Ave HC.
