New connections, new prices – oesterreich.ORF.at
ÖBB timetable change
With the timetable change that came into effect on Sunday, ÖBB is increasing ticket prices due to the high energy prices – at the same time there are more and new connections. Furthermore, some new, more comfortable train sets are used.
Second-class tickets cost an average of 3.9 percent more. If you buy a second-class ticket from Vienna to Salzburg on the day of departure, you pay 28.30 euros with the Vorteilscard online or in the app, 40 cents more than before. The earlier you book, the cheaper a trip is.
More connections between state capitals
During the day, for example, some state capitals are to be better networked at weekends with new early and late connections. There are two new Intercity train pairs between Linz and Graz – more about that in ooe.ORF.at.
For commuters, a new Railjet pair is coming between Mallnitz in Carinthia (Spittal district) and Salzburg main station. In the Ennstal there is an additional connection in the morning and in the evening – more on that in steiermark.ORF.at.
The night S-Bahn started in Salzburg. There is also a new railway line between Bischofshofen and Schladming – more on that in salzburg.ORF.at.
In Lower Austria there are, among other things, improvements for commuters on the Franz-Josefs-Bahn and the Marchegger Ostbahn – more on this in noe.ORF.at.
For Carinthia, the new timetable includes additional connections to Vienna, Graz and Salzburg – more on this in kaernten.ORF.at.
In Vorarlberg, the bus routes throughout the country have been switched to three-digit numbers. In addition, additional lines have been introduced, and there are also innovations in rail transport – more on this in vorarlberg.ORF.at.
There are also tourist IC connections. From Vienna’s Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof there will be daily direct trains to Prague via Gmünd and southern Bohemia. At the weekend, the new connection will even be offered twice a day – more on that in vienna.ORF.at.
There are various extensions in night travel. For example, Nightjets from Vienna and Munich, which previously ended in Milan, will be extended to Genoa.
