Almost 200 occurrences until 8 am today. Lisbon is the most affected district
F199 occurrences were recorded, due to adverse weather conditions, between 4 pm on Saturday and 8 am on Sunday. According to ANEPC, in declarations to the News by the Minutethe main incidences are the fall of trees and structures and flooding of public roads.
The most affected districts are Lisbon, where there were 85 occurrences, Setúbal (31), Faro (21), Santarém (12) and Beja (11).
In the theater of operations remained “803 operations and 263 land assets”.
The Civil Protection also warned of the warnings from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) due to the maritime fleet, which are in effect until 9:00 am today.
It should be recalled that three road tunnels on Avenida João XXI, Campo Grande and Entrecampos, in Lisbon, were closed on Saturday night as a precaution due to bad weather.
On Saturday, the ANPC decreed a state of special alert at a yellow level for the entire device on the continent, the second most serious of a scale of four, due to the worsening weather conditions, and recommended special care in the riverside areas, adoption of defensive driving or avoid flooded areas, given forecasts for the next 72 hours of persistent rain and strong winds.
“Adopt defensive driving, taking into account the speed and taking special care with the possible formation of water sheets on the roads”, says the ANEPC, also asking that citizens do not cross flooded areas, in order to prevent the dragging of people or vehicles into holes in the pavement or open sewer covers.
It also recommends not to practice activities related to the sea, whether sport fishing or water sports, but also walks along the seafront, also avoiding parking vehicles too close to the seafront.
The ANEPC recommendations are preventive measures in the face of information from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) that points to heavy rains, maritime safety, snow and strong winds in the next few hours.
