A new train from Krakow to Budapest, which could run in a year?
Will the governments of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary come to an agreement on the new European connection between Krakow and Budapest? It is possible that the Ministry of Infrastructure could be interested in running in about a year. It should, however, be preserving, among other things, from the amount of rolling stock and financial resources.
MI does not provide connection at the end of next year
If we calculate the long-distance results by the Polish-Slovak crossing in the case of Leluchów near Muszyna, will we really wait that long? – The aid from the Slovak side, presented in mid-November this year, is currently being considered – says Szymon Huptyś, spokesman for the Ministry of Infrastructure, which was entrusted with the financing of the course. He adds that the Slovaks are working to bring the train up to the 2023/2024 annual timetable, which was in operation in about a year – in mid-December 2023.
The position of the ministry seems to be more and more favorable to the new course than the basis. The MI did not rule out that Poland would agree to the proposed variant. – A possible decision to launch Kraków-Košice-Budapest connections will operate i.a. from the costs of computer rolling stock, traction service and financing – we heard from our connection.
To Slovakia and Hungary without entering the Czech Republic
If the based countries come to an agreement and decide to jointly finance the course, the offer of a connection at the junction of Poland and Slovakia to improve. Without a change, you will be able to travel from Krakow to support the cities of the eastern part of Slovakia, including, above all, Kosice – one of the distributors of our southern neighbor. Now you can get there by plane, first of all, or by regional trains with transfers.
The offer of connections to Hungary would also be enriched. Today, it is possible to travel from Krakow to Budapest by the night effect of “Chopin” from Warsaw with wagons to Budapest, Vienna and Prague, but scientific activity is a circuitous route through the territory of the Czech Republic. FlixBus also runs its courses to the Hungarian capital.
