MyStar left for Tallinn on Friday after the shipbuilder Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) handed it over to Tallink on Wednesday at the Rauma shipyard, the company said in a press release.
Arriving at the port of Tallinn at noon, it was greeted with a water cannon salute and escorted by a tugboat to Pier 1 of the Old Town harbor.
With a total crew of 208 people led by three captains, the 212.4 meter long, 1A ice class MS MyStar has 12 decks, 46 passenger cabins and a capacity of 2,800 passengers.
It is powered by a dual-fuel system that can run on LNG and/or diesel, and its land-to-ship electrical solution is part of the Twin-Port 3 measure and is part-financed through the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). .
Construction of the EUR 247 million vessel began at the Rauma shipyard in April 2020 and was financed by a EUR 196.3 million loan from KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH, and the Finnish export credit institution Finnvera guarantees 95 percent of this post-delivery purchase credit.
After several delays, MyStar’s maiden commercial trip will depart from Tallinn to Helsinki next Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. It joins MS Megastar and MS Star in the company’s shuttle service between the two capitals.
