GDN The wait is over: on Friday, December 2, 2022, the new luge World Cup season started in Innsbruck. The German team has been filled in some positions, but remains a candidate for the top places.
New World Cup races are on the program for the 2022/23 season. In Germany Altenberg and Winterberg can look forward to races. The highlight of the season takes place in Oberhof. The World Championships will take place there from January 28th to 29th, 2023. Two well-known faces of the toboggan scene will be missing from all competitions. The Olympic champions Natalie Geisenberger (baby break) and Johannes Ludwig (end of career) are no longer on board.

In the male field, Felix Loch is the clear number one. In addition, Mathis Ertel and David Nößler have fought for starting positions. Max Langenhan has to give up a start in the first races due to a hand injury. Timon Grancagnolo steps into the breach for him.
For years, the doubles have been among the most avid medal collectors. With Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt as well as Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken, the two German world-class teams are at the start. Third place in the German squad is held by Hannes Orlamünder and Paul Gubitz.
The women’s doubles are celebrating their World Cup premiere this season. With Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal, the Germans have a promising team in the running.
