Peter Paul Mölk has been elected the new chairman of Innsbruck Tourism. He succeeds Mario Gerber, who resigned from the presidency of Innsbruck Tourism after entering the state government.
With nine votes, Peter Paul Mölk became the new chairman of Innsbruck Tourismus. Katharina Schnitzer-Zach remains the first deputy chairman and Lisa Peer the second deputy chairman. Thomas Wass from Raiffeisen-Landesbank Tirol AG follows Mölk in accordance with the Tourism Act and moves into Voting Group I on the Supervisory Board of Innsbruck Tourism.
In his inaugural speech, Mölk emphasized that he would take over the office of chairman of Innsbruck Tourismus with conviction and enthusiasm. “The combination of alpine and urban, which defines our region, also defines my quality of life. There is nothing nicer than being able to represent and sell a product that you live and love yourself,” says Mölk.
Upward trend after Corona flute
Barbara Plattner, Managing Director of Innsbruck Tourism, took a look at the end of the tourism year 2022. The arrivals in 2022 are believed to be around 1.1 million. This means an increase of 106.8 percent compared to the previous year 2021 (around 530,000 arrivals) and a minus of 32.4 percent compared to the pre-corona year 2019 (around 1.6 million arrivals).
Around 2.7 million overnight stays were recorded in the tourism year 2022. Compared to the previous year, this means an increase of 96 percent (around 1.4 million overnight stays) and in the pre-Corona comparison a minus of 21.6 percent (around 3.4 million overnight stays in 2019). “The forecast was for a 30 percent drop in overnight stays compared to 2019,” says Plattner. In August, the number of overnight stays marginally exceeded the pre-corona level with plus one percent.
