Inflation: Haslauer against increasing the electricity grid fee
According to Governor Wilfried Haslauer, the much-discussed 41 percent increase in the electricity grid fee is “untimely and should be avoided at all costs”. According to the governor, this increase would counteract previous price-dampening measures.
SALZBURG. At the beginning of November it was announced that the electricity grid fee – also in Salzburg – was to be increased by around 40 percent as of January 1, 2023. The regulatory authority E-Control determines the grid fees as part of the System Usage Fees Ordinance. Since the grid fees are not covered by the electricity price brake, criticism of the recent price increase for users has increased throughout Austria in recent days.

“The worst time for such an increase”
On Thursday afternoon, Governor Wilfried Haslauer also reported a rejection of the increase in the network fee: “In view of the current situation, an increase in the network fee must be avoided at all costs. An increase in the network fee would counteract a proportion of the previous price containment measures that should not be underestimated,” says Haslauer.
“With all the justifications that are currently being held in meetings for an increase, now would certainly be the worst time for such an increase,” says a broadcast.
Just today, the Salzburg Chamber of Labor again called on the state government to support the people of Salzburg with the increased (electricity) costs.
