A 21-year-old is on Saturday before the Salzburg regional court because he is said to have been a member of a terrorist organization. The Syrian living in Salzburg and recognized refugee is said to have served as a guard in an Islamist militia in Syria.
According to investigators, the 21-year-old posed in a photo on Instagram with an assault rifle in hand. He tried some training and at least served as an armed guard with the terrorists – for two years.

In the Syrian civil war, these units fought against government troops – with the aim of establishing an Islamic fundamentalist state, similar to the competing Islamic State (IS).
