Football, San Marino too at the UEFA summit on the protection of children
The UEFA summit on the protection of children and young people linked to the world of football was held from 17 to 18 November in Tubize (Belgium). At the summit, held in the new headquarters of the Belgian Football Federation, the FSGC was among the 49 participating federations with its Football and Social Responsibility Officer Andrea Zoppis.
Together with the federations affiliated to UEFA, the meeting was also attended by speakers and members of the European Commission as well as parliamentarians of the Council of Europe, together with researchers and experts in the sector. In this case, the collaboration between the institutions (schools, government, etc.) and the federations is fundamental in order to be able to work at their best. The protection of children is an integral and fundamental part of UEFA’s Football and Social Responsibility project called “Strength through unity 2030”. A project in which the highest European football authority wants to focus on the rights of the little ones to play football, prevent and respond to any form of damage. In this project, UEFA also collaborates with Terre des Hommes, a Swiss organization for helping children and has also launched an e-learning course through an online platform (www.uefa-safeguarding.eu). During the two days, group work was also created in order to seek practical solutions to develop the theme of the protection of minors.
The event was also created in conjunction with World Childrens Day, the international day on the rights of children and adolescents, which falls today, Sunday 20 November.
