Carol Freitas and Ana Leandro were the great heroines of the Vimaran crowd.
V. Guimarães is the first team qualified for the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup in women’s football.
At Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, in a match for the third round of the competition, the tie between the Victorian team and Gil Vicente prevailed at the end of the 90 minutes. In this way, it was necessary to go to extra time and, in that period, at the 116th minute, Ana Leandro, with a header, corresponded in the best way to a cross from the right by Daniela Pereira and opened the scoring for the visiting team. The Gilista response could not have been more immediate, with Inês Puga restoring equality, at 118″, after assisting Inês Soares.
In the tie-breaker for great rewards, V. Guimarães turned out to be more effective (2-4), with goalkeeper Carol Freitas stopping two shots and Ana Leandro scoring the decisive goal for the Vimaran team to pass.
