Points as a goal – HC Innsbruck is challenged at Olimpija Ljubljana
© Sports report
The Haie continue today in the win2day ICE Hockey League with the next away game. The HCI makes a guest appearance in Ljubljana.
Take the positives from yesterday’s game against VSV, despite the narrow 3:4 defeat, that must be the motto for HCI striker Martin Ulmer: “We played a good away game and would certainly have earned points.” The reason the ex-Villacher says he knows the defeat: “The difference was definitely that we were in the penalty box a little too much. That was the deciding factor.”
Special teams will again be an important factor in Ljubljana today. The Haie were again able to prove their strength in superior numbers against Villach with a power play goal, but conceded two goals when outnumbered. Penalty killing is not one of the strengths of the Tyroleans. That’s another reason why a concentrated, disciplined appearance WILL be necessary today to take points from Ljubljana.
The Haie’s record against the Slovenians in the recent past is spotless. The Tyroleans have won their last five games against Ljubljana, including the 5-2 home win in their first meeting of the season at the TIWAG Arena in early October. The Green Dragons, for their part, are out for a perfect weekend. Yesterday, the Laibachers were able to gain self-confidence with a 5:2 home win after being 1:2 behind against the Graz99ers.
