Barrier-free city: Location found for the Salzburg blind touch model
It took a year, and now the decision has been made: the city of Salzburg will get a tactile model for the blind. Two locations are available for this. On January 11, 2023, the German artist Felix Brörken will present a draft of his tactile model for the blind in the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace.
SALZBURG. Tactile models for the blind enable the blind and visually impaired to get a better sense of the historical surroundings. It took a long time, now the touch model for the blind is within reach in the city of Salzburg. The tactile model of the city of Salzburg for the blind is to be set up in the Franziskanergasse in the area of the apse in front of the church. This was unanimously decided by the members of the social and housing committee at the meeting on Thursday, November 17, 2022. As early as 2017, NEOS municipal councilor Kornelia Thöni submitted an application for the construction of a tactile model for the blind. Last year an application was made again with all other parties except for the ÖVP, we report here.
Two different locations for blind touch model
According to the current status, the tactile model for the blind should come in the Franziskanergasse in the area in front of the apse of the church. If this is not possible due to the findings, the bronze model will be placed on Kajetanerplatz in the area where Kaigasse and Pfeiffergasse meet, according to the official report.
“It’s nice to see when the political work bears fruit, a tactile model for the blind is an important step towards inclusion.” NEOS councilor Nevin Öztürk
Find out how barrier-free Salzburg is in the video:
“Being annoying and sticking with it pays off. The application that we submitted together with other parties is finally being implemented after a year, Salzburg is also getting a touch model for the blind!” says NEOS councilor Nevin Öztürk happily. She emphasizes: “A tactile model for the blind is an important step towards inclusion.”
