San Marino. Increased electricity and gas bills, the future Republic: “Citizens are asking for facts and not a government that is always celebrating”
“Compromise to be evaluated over time. We look forward to understanding what developments there will be from January onwards”.
“It is part of the statement on state TV by the secretary of state with responsibility for the AASS, Teodoro Lonfernini”, he declares future republic in a note.
“We don’t want to distort Lonfernini’s thought, but the impression given by the umpteenth declaration is that the government and the Authorities have gotten into total confusion. The tariffsdespite the intervention of the majority and the declarations of Alessandro Mancini on imaginative road maps, they have been increased: plus 30% those of methane gas and variable cost, therefore linked to the market trend, which we know how ‘crazy’ it is today, for electricity, in the face of some increasingly haggard minstrel of the government”.
First question from the opposition party: “With these deliberate increases, are prices even lower than in Italy, as secretary Lonfernini said in that crazy press conference a few weeks ago?”.
Two other questions posed by Rf: “Which is the reference market on which the price of energy would be formed, which Aass would then apply to households? If AASS does not operate correctly on the market, if it does not buy at the best possible conditions, wrong choice of suppliers, etc., do the San Marino people automatically pay?”.
Future Republic, which awaits immediate answers to the aforementioned questions, also asks for “again a stop to the deliberate increases and regulatory and economic interventions”.
Stop which is necessary “because, with the deliberate increases, the costs applied to the people of San Marino far exceed the average costs that AASS supports for the purchase of energy: this is certain for gas, where there is a hedging contract which 6 years blocks the price at a pre-set level and much lower than the deliberate one, and it is highly probable also for electricity. We don’t think it is acceptable for the people of San Marino to become ‘the Bank of Aass’, financing its operations and giving it liquidity, perhaps to generate assets and make the government look good”.
And again: “Regulatory and economic interventions are instead fundamental because the people of San Marino, at least families and businesses with less economic capacity, cannot sustain this kind of increase and risk falling into poverty, families, or going bankrupt, businesses. For months we have continued to encourage the government to implement support interventions, as it has done everywhere in the world, using the Smac for citizens, with the same mechanism envisaged for fuel, and providing single-phase discounts for businesses; but so far, apart from some announcements, nothing has moved. And this must be strongly stigmatized, together with the government’s non-implementation of ICEE, a choice that prevents us from identifying exactly who needs help and who doesn’t”.
According to RepubblicaFuture, the AASS Statute “must be reviewed, giving the Company a modern structure from an administrative point of view with the necessary safeguards to interact fluidly with energy markets and foreign operators”.
The Energy Authority “must be overcome, as it makes little sense to maintain a technical structure, born in 2001 when the then government wanted to privatize AASS, to manage the tariffs of a public monopolist and because tariff decisions have a such a political impact that it cannot be entirely delegated to a technical body”.
Furthermore, RepubblicaFuture says it is “available to provide an effective contribution since the citizens are asking for a choral intervention by the political class”.
“We don’t want to replace the government and the majority, now on the road to elections, but build a path that secures the country’s system for the next legislature regardless of who will govern – remarked the future Republic -. Continuing to throw smoke and discredit on opponents, on the microphone or from the social-room, citizens are of little use when they see three-figure bills recapitalised, they will have higher mortgage rates and loans, the allocation will be double-digit eroding so the purchasing power of citizens and the competitiveness of businesses are significant. Let’s all decide together, not only politics but also social forces, which path to take and which economic resources to allocate to secure the system and not add the terror of bills and surveying to the winter terror of Covid-19 “.
Finally, the opposition party “turns once again to the people of common sense in the majority, perhaps to those who, like us, have become indignant when reading about the party, complete with dress code and dancing, which the Autonomous State Works Agency governments has just decided to act in a moment like the one we are experiencing”, since “the citizens are asking for facts and not a government that is always celebrating, away or fighting over robots and personal teasing”.
