Salzburg – city: city break – short break in the city of Salzburg
since my partner and I had reason to celebrate, we gave each other gifts
a few days in the city of salzburg…
We stayed in a nice hotel, let ourselves be pampered and did a lot in the historic city with its wonderful sights.
With the “SalburgCard” you are very flexible and receive various discounts.
die Hohensalzburg Fortress we hiked on foot, the fortress railway was just being serviced. Already on the ascent you can enjoy the views over the city again and again, from the observation tower at the top you can see over the beautiful mountains to Germany.
You can learn a lot of interesting things on a panoramic tour, while walking along the battlements around the castle you feel like you have been transported back in time.
In the fortress museum and arsenal, a lot of knowledge is imparted on appealing, modern art.
After a refreshment in the rustic castle tavern, where knights’ banquets are also held, we made a detour to the Nonnberg Monasteryenjoyed the beautiful autumn day and the view.
Another highlight of a visit to Salzburg is of course the Salzburg Cathedral.
The festival takes place every year on Domplatz, the city is currently preparing for Advent and Christmas, and the Advent markets in this ambience are certainly very atmospheric.
The cathedral is magnificent, you can’t help but be amazed, the dome is huge, every wall is richly decorated with stucco, and when all six organs are played, it must be exhilarating.
An evening walk until dark gave wonderful impressions of Salzburg at night.
Along the Salzach there are beautiful promenades, several and pedestrian crossings, eg the well-known Marko Feingold Steg with the many love locks, this is of course a popular photo motif. (Beware of the cyclists!)
In the old town one sees step by step historical buildings, the shopping streets, e.g grain alley loaded a. I like the historical nose plates very much, for shopping in the luxury shops I’m not the right clientele for various designers and fashion levels, but looking at the editions is fun.
die too Culture does not come off badly, the choice is not that easy.
Mozart of course you have to mention it.
Beautiful pubs and rustic taverns invite you to strengthen yourself…
Salzburg dumplings and Mozartkugeln are of course included…
A bit of rain the next day didn’t affect our exploration tours.
Experiencing the fortress and the old town in the fog also had a special appeal.
I particularly liked one for a walk Mirabell Castle with the wonderful castle garden. I was surprised what great impressions you can achieve with winter planting.
I wasn’t the only one who took photos, all visitors took pictures of the well-known view from the castle in the direction of the fortress…
I hope I haven’t researched too incorrectly, otherwise I would ask our dear Gerti from Salzburg to correct it.
There are many pictures, there can be countless more, maybe you want to click a little bit…
Goodbye, Salzburg!
