Mexico vs Sweden live: World Cup warm-up friendly scores, highlights, results
Mexico will play their final 90 minutes before the 2022 FIFA World Cup when they face Sweden in a friendly on Wednesday from Girona, Spain.
The match, played at Girona FC’s Estadi Montilivi, will be El Tri’s final tune-up before they head off to Qatar for the tournament. As Mexico would not start World Cup action until November 22nd, there was room for a match with the full squad. The 4-0 friendly win over Iraq a week ago featured only domestically-based players, as European-based squad members were yet to be released from club duty.
Head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino will look to continue the attacking success of a week ago, when Alexis Vega, Rogelio Funes Mori, Jesus Gallardo and Uriel Antuna all found the back of the net. That result gave hope to a previously misfiring Mexico attack.
Now, with the entire roster available to earn tune-up minutes, Martino must balance one last chance to build squad chemistry with some caution to avoid key injuries.

Mexico vs Sweden lineups, team news
Mexico now have their entire 26-man squad available, although some precautions will certainly be taken.
Striker’s fitness Raul Jimenez has been a constant question for the past few months, and even if he was included in the list, it is unlikely that he will be risked in this match.
Europe-based players that could be inserted into the lineup include Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano and Edson Alvarez which they see to reacquaint themselves with the national team structure.
Mexico estimated starting lineup (4-3-3, right to left): 13-Ochoa (GK) — 19-J. Sanchez, 3-Montes, 2-Araujo, 23-Gallardo — 8-C. Rodriguez, 4-E. Alvarez, 14-Gutierrez — 22-Lozano, 11-Funes Mori, 10-Vega.
Sweden is not a World Cup participant this year and therefore head coach Janne Andersson has called up a number of young players.
A man not in the squad is a forward Dejan Kulusevski, who was not risked, having returned to the Tottenham line-up following a long injury lay-off. It makes room at the front for the likes of Anthony Elanga and Mikael Ishak.
Elanga, still only 20, is yet to score a goal this season for Manchester United but has provided energy from the bench. Ishak, meanwhile, has been on fire in front of the net, wearing the captain’s armband for Polish giants Lech Poznan.
There are four players on the Swedish list without a single international cap, plus another 10 with single-digit national team appearances. The captain is Victor Lindelöf Manchester United, who have 54 caps.
Sweden projected starting lineup (4-4-2, right to left): 1-Olsen (GK) — 5-Andersson, 4-Hien, 3-Lindelof, 6-Augustinsson — 7-Claesson, 20-Olsson, 8-Karlström, 10-Forsberg — 9-Ishak, 17-Elanga.
