Average gasoline price in Portugal surpassed EU average in the third quarter – Energy
Between July and September, the average price of straight 95 gasoline in Portugal surpassed the average for European Union countries. According to the EU-27 fuel price bulletin, released this Wednesday by the Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (ERSE), the average price of straight 95 gasoline in the EU was 1,784 euros per litre, while in Portugal it was of 1,827 euros per litre. Compared to the second quarter, gasoline prices in the country fell by 9.7% between July and September.
“Portugal ranks 13th among the countries that sell the most expensive 95% gasoline in the EU-27, with the price rising corresponding to a difference of 56 cents/l and 34.1 cents/l compared to the country with higher prices. lowest prices and the country with the highest prices, respectively”, says ERSE.
The tax burden had a weight of 44% in the final price, and without taxes “Portugal is in the ninth position of the countries that sell this fuel at a higher price”, the regulator also pointed out. Even so, despite being higher, the tax burden in national territory was lower than the EU-27 average (44.6%). The lowest average selling price was seen in Hungary and the highest in Finland, with a difference of 0.90 cent/l between the lowest and the highest.
With regard to simple diesel, the average selling price in the EU was 1,858 euros per litre, while in Portugal it stood at 1,832 euros per litre. In view of the influenced price between April and June, prices fell by 3.6% in the third quarter.
According to ERSE, Portugal ranks eighth among the countries that sell this fuel cheaper in the 27 countries of the European Union, with a difference of 62.2 cents per liter compared to the country with the lowest prices – Malta -, and 48.9% when compared to the country with the highest prices – Sweden.
The reduction of the tax burden applied in Portugal – which in the third quarter was 36.9% – “contributed to the practice of average sales prices for this fuel, in the national market, lower than the average prices exported in Spain, by about four cents per litre”, stresses the regulator.
in relation to liquefied petroleum gas for automobiles (GPL Auto), national prices were lower than those touched in Spain – the only country where it exceeded 1.00 €/l -, but exceeded by 5.3% cents per liter the average price compensated in the EU.
The price of LPG Auto in the European bloc stood at 0.85 cents per liter in the third quarter, while in Portugal it was set at 0.903 €/l.
