A fight broke out between the Istanbul Taxi Professionals Chamber and Martı
The piracy debate that started with the car sharing application between the scooter sharing company Martı and the Istanbul Taxi Professionals Chamber grew. Oğuz Alper Öktem, the manager and CEO of Martı, claimed the owner and family of Eyüp Aksu, President of the Istanbul Taxi Chamber of Craftsmen, as competitors.
Öktem posted a video on his Twitter account and tagged Aksu’s account. After Martı announced the “TAG – Let’s Go With One Vehicle” platform, Öktem, which claimed to threaten Aksu himself and his family, noted that they developed the platform to find a solution to the installment problem of Istanbul. Öktem said, “After this incident, let alone my career, I put my head to the table for the solution of this matter, hodri challenge.”
Öktem’s post quickly became one of the popular topics on Twitter with the hashtag “We are behind you, Martı”.
Istanbul Taxi Drivers’ Chamber of Tradesmen (İTEO) announced on its twitter account on 11 November that they had applied to a single jurisdiction that Martı’s ‘Let’s Go With One Vehicle (TAG)’ platform was ‘piracy’. The account of İTEO President Eyüp Aksu was tagged in the message.
Martı announced on October 21 that it had created a platform called ‘Let’s Go With One Vehicle’ (TAG) with the aim of meeting passengers who want to go in the same direction as they are traveling with their empty seats.
‘WE WILL FILE A CRIMINAL ANNOUNCEMENT’
Eyüp Aksu, President of the Istanbul Taxi Chamber of Tradesmen, said that they will file a criminal complaint about the video. Speaking to Habertürk, Aksu said, “I should not know those owners (Martı’s CEO). We will file a criminal complaint to the prosecutor’s office tomorrow morning about the video we have already seen,” he said.
‘WE APPLICABLE TO THE MINISTRY’
Saying that TAG falls within the definition of pirate transportation, Eyüp Aksu said: “Martı’s new business, private vehicle transportation service falls within the definition of pirate transportation. We applied to the ministry for the blocking of access to authorization in that regard. In addition, we have filed a criminal complaint against all piracy shipping companies, including Martı, to the prosecutor’s office.”
