Princess Sofia of Sweden takes on a new project for children – Royal Central

Sweden’s Princess Sofia has taken on a new project this autumn.
The princess has been recorded by Sweden’s Radio reading a fairy tale for the children’s radio program Sagor i Barnradion.
Sofia, mother of three young boys, read “Viktor’s New Shirt” by author Camilla Gunnarsson to mark the reading holiday – or autumn holiday – in Sweden.
The story focuses on Viktor and his father as a couple shop for a new shirt for the little boy. Viktor finds a pink shirt he likes, but his father doesn’t approve.
Speaking about her choice of book, Princess Sofia said: “The book emphasizes the importance of us adults being role models and thinking before we pass on our fears and prejudices to our children. And that our children are sometimes wiser than us adults.”
The book is also popular at home with her three sons with Prince Carl Philip; Princes Alexander, Gabriel and Julian count it as one of their favourites.
Her recording was broadcast on P4 and SR Play on Halloween for the program aimed at three to eight year olds.
Princess Sofia’s almost nine-minute long recording can be heard here.
About the reading program Princess Sofia participated in, Sveriges Radio said: “Through these voices and stories, we hope to inspire more families to read and listen together.”
