Gran Fondo Regatta ai Navicelli, in Pisa a great celebration of Italian rowing
Wonderful rowing weekend on the Navicelli Canal, where the XI Gran Fondo Regatta ended with an edition that saw great participation of athletes and enthusiasts
70 clubs and more than 900 athletes they were registered in the various competitions that are held in the two Pisan days of Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October.
The races in the time trial started late in the morning on Saturday 29 October after the opening ceremony attended by many representatives of city bodies and institutions: the president of the FIC Giuseppe Abbagnale, the Mayor of Pisa Michele Conti, the managing director of the Port Authority Salvatore Pisano, the rowing manager of the Sportivo Vigili del Fire of Pisa Billi-Masi Alessandro Simoncini, the social councilor of the Municipality of Pisa Sandra Munno, the director of the sports activities office of the Fire Brigade Lamberto Cignitti and the Commander of the Pisa Fire Brigade Nicola Ciannelli.
The culmination of the races came on the afternoon of Sunday 30 with the Italian cross-country championship in which the crews in double competed for the title of Italian Champion and for the Mauro Baccelli Trophy, while the crews of the four without battled for the Paolo Novelli Trophy.
There is great satisfaction for the success of the event by Billi-Masi, Pisan company organizer of the event, which clearly wanted to implement the logistics of the event in view of the large number of appearances, offering services to athletes from Italy who were able to take advantage of changing rooms and showers in an immediate and comfortable way.
All this was made possible primarily by the concession of the aquatic space of the canal by the Port Authority, which was followed by the adhesion of a vast network of collaborators who took care of different aspects of the event: in addition to the approximately 50 volunteers involved in the various operations, there was the essential contribution of the associations that dealt with rescue and assistance to present, such as the Water Rescue Federation (FISA), the National Fire Brigade Association (ANVVF), the Misericordia di Lari and the Association for Dog Work in the Water (AILA).
Thanks to the synergy created between the commitment of Billi-Masi and the Port Authority of Pisa, this edition of the Gran Fondo Regatta has centered the common goal around which the entire organization of the two days has revolved: to make the great potential effective. of the canal by exploiting it to celebrate rowing, demonstrating that this place could be an excellent showcase to use to give the Pisan community a new meeting space, but which would also be capable of attracting a national team, such as demonstrating the success of the event that has just ended.
The hope is that the commitment and dedication of everyone, from the organizing bodies to the athletes, from parents to volunteers, in order to achieve this good result, sparks were able to rekindle the desire to see the great Italian rowing once again protagonist in the city of Pisa, against the backdrop of the Navicelli Canal.
