In Baku, Helsinki, versatile cooperation, regional and global security will be discussed [PHOTO]

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Finland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Undersecretary for External Economic Relations Nina Vaskunlahti have discussed multifaceted ties and regional and global security issues, Azernews reports, according to the ministry.
On October 27, in Baku, the diplomats discussed various aspects of the countries’ bilateral cooperation, multilateral cooperation and the directions of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, as well as the regional situation, the ministry elaborated.
During the meeting, they discussed improving cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, humanitarian, education, high technology, investment and culture.
In addition, regional energy and transport projects implemented at the initiative and participation of Azerbaijan were emphasized, as well as cooperation issues within international organizations.
On the opposite page, Bayramov updated the latest developments in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan as a result of the 44-day war with Armenians in 2020, as well as the mine danger and the current state of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He emphasized that despite the aggressive approach against Azerbaijan, the country is ready to conclude a peace agreement with Armenia based on international legal principles.
The minister emphasized Azerbaijan’s vital role in the economic sector, especially in the diversification of energy resources. In this context, the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding was emphasized, which covers the doubling of gas transit to the EU and the expansion of cooperation in the development of alternative energy sources. He said that the current trade exchange between Azerbaijan and the EU is good, but there is still potential to increase it.
Vaskunlahti, on the other hand, emphasized that there are plenty of opportunities for the expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Finland in many different fields. He highlighted the cooperation areas of economic and environmental protection, education and high technology, as well as the initiatives that Finns were involved in in Azerbaijan. The diplomat emphasized that Finland supports the normalization process of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest, such as regional and international security issues.
