Color attack on the facade of the Russian Orthodox Church in Geneva – kath.ch
Unknown persons smeared paint on the facade of the Russian Orthodox Church in Geneva on Friday night. The Russian Embassy submits an official protest note to protect the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
At the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency on Saturday morning, the Geneva cantonal police confirmed that they had noticed the damage on Friday at 10 a.m. A report had been issued and an investigation was being conducted, a spokesman said.
Russian embassy criticizes “Russophobia”
The Russian embassy in Switzerland strongly condemned the “act of vandalism” at the entrance to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Geneva on its website. She regards “this criminal act as another clear example of Russophobia”, which unfortunately is also spreading more and more in Switzerland.
This is not the first act of vandalism in Switzerland. In May, the Suvorov monument in the Schöllenen in Andermatt was smeared with yellow and blue paint. As a result of these incidents, the embassy has now submitted a protest note to the EDA, in which it calls for “urgent measures to identify and punish those responsible”.
The FDFA itself did not comment on this. One never comments publicly on protest notes, it said when asked by Keystone-SDA. (sda)
