Ukraine has put forward a demand to Iran to stop arms supplies to Russia
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian regarding the supply of Russian drones and other weapons to Iran.
This is Kuleba’s introduction to Twitter.
“Today I received a call from the Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir Abdollahianduring which I demanded that Iran stop the flow of weapons to Russia that are used to kill civilians and destroy critical infrastructure in Ukraine,” he wrote.
The minister did not inform about the reaction of the Iranian side to this demand. Officially, Iran has not announced the results of the negotiations.
The Iranian news agency ISNA, reporting on the talks, recalls that earlier this week, a representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nasser Kanani, commenting on problematic issues regarding the supply of weapons to Russia, accused the country in the West of “provocations”. He said that Iran “is not a party to the war.”
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also continued to deny the facts of the supply of weapons to the Russian Federation and blamed Ukraine.
“We do not export weapons to any of the sides in this war. Our relations with Ukraine and Russia were friendly. Unfortunately … Ukraine tried to disrupt the level of relations with Iran, but despite this, these relations are maintained and we are ready to help end this war,” he said.
At the same time, Kanana estimates that “relations between Iran and Russia are on the rise in various aspects.”
Note that in recent weeks, Russia actively uses Iranian kamikaze drones for attacks on Ukrainian cities. Ukrainian intelligence reports that Russia ordered about 2.4 thousand more from Iran drones Later it also became known that Iran agreed to transfer ballistic missiles to Russia and even more drones.
