The Ecuadorian ambassador Andrés Vallejo presents his credentials in Andorra
Madrid, Oct 28 (EFE).- The Ambassador of Ecuador in Spain and Andorra, Andrés Vallejo, presented this Friday the credential letters before the episcopal co-prince of the Principality of Andorra, Joan-Enric Vives.
The Principality of Andorra is a small country located in the Pyrenees, between Spain and France, whose Head of State is made up of two co-princes, the Bishop of Urgel, on behalf of the Spanish jurisdiction, and the President of France on behalf of the Gallic country. .
The authorities of the Principality asked Ambassador Vallejo for the support of the Ecuadorian Government in the initiative they undertook within the framework of COP 27, as a member country of the Association of Mountain Countries, to address joint actions in the face of the impact of climate change on the ecosystem .
For his part, the Ecuadorian diplomat requested the support of the Principality for the recovery of funds originating from acts of corruption, which would have been deposited by former Ecuadorian authorities in Andorra, reported the Ecuadorian embassy in Spain.
The Principality is one of the great international financial centers, with an attractive tax regime for companies.
Before the presentation of credentials, the Ecuadorian ambassador held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality, María Ubach, to whom he expressed his interest in strengthening the trade and cooperation relationship between the two countries.
For its part, Ubach offered the support and exchange of knowledge through the Economic Customs Agencies, Research and Innovation Agencies, and Tourism Cooperation that the Principality has.
The co-prince and the minister thanked the Ecuadorian government for supporting Andorra to host the 2021 Ibero-American Summit, according to the source.
In addition, he will express his satisfaction with the formation of the troika for the Ibero-American Summit with Ecuador, since he will hold the Pro Tempore presidency for the period 2023-2024, which will culminate with the Ibero-American Summit in Quito, in 2024.
Diplomatic relations between Ecuador and Andorra date back to 1996, and the embassy is exercised by the same ambassador to Spain. In this case, Andrés Vallejo has been accredited to Spain since May 2022.
