Peter Bussjäger again a member of the Venice Commission – University of Innsbruck
The constitutional lawyer Univ.-Prof. dr Peter Bußjäger was appointed to the Venice Commission by the government of the renewed Principality of Liechtenstein. It was first appointed in 2018. The Venice Commission was founded by the Council of Europe in 1990 with the aim of supporting the states of Eastern Europe in their transformation into democracies and is today an important constitutional advisory body for a total of 61 states.
Peter Bussjäger has been a professor at the Institute for Public law, state and administrative theory at the University of Innsbruck, until 2018 as endowed professor of the state of Tyrol. Before that, the constitutional lawyer was, among other things, Director of the Vorarlberg State Parliament (2003-2013) and a member of the Liechtenstein Administrative Court (2005-2009). Since 2009 he has been a judge at the State Court of the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Liechtenstein Constitutional Court.
Venice Commission
In 2018, the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein appointed Penitentiary Officers as a member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, this order has now been extended. The Venice Commission advises member states of the Council of Europe and beyond on constitutional issues – a total of 61 states belong to the Venice Commission. The members of the Commission are experts in constitutional and international law, constitutional judges, members of national parliaments and senior civil servants and are appointed by the member states for a four-year term.
