The fantastic film was recorded by a photographer in 2017 in the Swedish ski resort Vemdalen. But the video went viral again this week, reminding viewers that nature’s beauty is timeless.
“Beautiful and breathtaking,” one person commented. “Wow, that must have been inspiring to be there,” said another.
According to a third user, “The name of the phenomenon is Sun Dog. It occurs due to the refraction of sunlight in ice crystals in the atmosphere”. A fourth said simply: “Nature is amazing!!”
According to Newsweek, the Sun’s halo, often known as the “22 degree halo,” is an optical phenomenon. Most often seen in frigid regions, they are caused by sunlight refracting through millions of hexagonal ice crystals floating in the sky. It is shaped like a ring with a radius of about 22 degrees around the sun or moon.
