Meeting of the Workers Foundation: pension reform
The conference on pension reform, organized by the Serravalle Workers’ Meeting Foundation, took place yesterday evening at the Sala del Castello di Serravalle.
The evening was attended by Roberto Ciavatta, Secretary of State for Health; Enzo Merlini, Secretary General of the San Marino Confederation of Labor; Luca Montanari, Secretary General of the Democratic Confederation of San Marino Workers; Francesca Busignani, General Secretary of the San Marino Workers Union and William Vagnini, General Secretary of the National Association of San Marino Industry. Carlo Filippini, director of the information of San Marino, moderated the debate.
A debate has developed among the speakers on the awareness that strong and short-term interventions would be needed to avoid chasms since the drop in the workers / pensioners ratio went from 2.54 in 2012 to 2.04 in 2022.
Alarming numbers that marked an imbalance between the income and expenditure of pensions only, without the State contribution, from 47 million in 2017 to 84 million in 2022.
Moreover, as it emerged during the evening, the intervention of the state went from 25 million in 2013 to over 57 million in 2021. More than doubled in a few years.
It was passed during 2017 that the incidence of State contributions on the Artisans sector has been just over 389 thousand euros in 2017. That of traders from almost 430 thousand euros in 2017 to 4 million 231 thousand euros in 2021. The intervention on that of subordinate workers went from 19.5 million in 2017 to about 28 million in 2021, also considering that both the number of retirees and the average pensions paid are increasing while active workers are decreasing, with the exception of subordinates and entrepreneurs.
A very participatory confrontation held on the eve of a general strike, called by all the trade unions, to ask for changes to the pension reform, in addition to the renewal of all expired contracts and a support plan against expensive bills.
The president of the Ritrovo Foundation thanks Serravalle Workers Maria Domenica Michelotti personally wanted the speakers who intervened to have their contribution, even if on different positions, to raise the collective debate on a topic of collective interest that will inevitably have an important impact on the country and on the whole population.
