Formal adhesion of the Gendarmerie Corps of the Republic of San Marino to the International Association of Gendarmerie and Police Forces with Military Statute
The Superior Council of Commanders and members of the Directors General of the countries of the International Association of Gendarmerie and Police Forces with Military Statute (FIEP) was held on Tuesday 26 October in Sintra (Portugal).
On the occasion, to crown a long process of verification and evaluation of the requirements, the assembly formalized the adhesion of the Gendarmerie Corps of the Republic of San Marino, which acquired, in accordance with the provisions of the statutes of the association in relation at the entrance of new candidates, the initial observation status.
The Commander of the Gendarmerie Corps, Colonel Maurizio Faraone, was present at the ceremony, accompanied by Gendarme Marta Mazza as flag bearer.
FIEP, acronym of _France Italie España Portugal_, from the name of the countries that were the founders in 1994, the representatives of the police forces with military status of 19 all over the world to share countries, with the common goal of sharing countries and best practices on the subject of security, favoring exchanges between the adhering countries.
During the summit, organized by the Portuguese _Guarda Nacional Republicana_ at the end of the presidency term, the handover to the incoming presidency, the Spanish _Guardia Civil_, took place, which will coordinate the association’s activities for the year 2023.
