de Petrus à Yquem, des grands vins vendus au profit de la Banque alimentaire
This annual sale has become a kind of charity ritual. “This year, we are at the twentieth edition,” warns auctioneer Antoine Briscadieu. “This initiative started in 2002: at that time, the Food Bank collected the wines itself on the last day of Vinexpo. »
The method has had its day. Today, château owners donate their precious beverage directly to the charity, without going through the Vinexpo box. “It was Herman Mostermans, trader and former president of the Food Bank, who relaunched the project,” says Antoine Briscadieu. “Then it’s Jean-François Moueix [dont le nom reste associé à Petrus, NDLR] which boosted sales. It has grown considerably over the past ten years, with high quality wines, well stocked” and representative of the richness and diversity of the sector.
“Marker of Bordeaux life”
Last year, 160 lots from different donors were offered to buyers, with a record result of 176,000 euros received. “All of the sums raised are allocated to financing the material investments necessary for the smooth running of the Food Bank of Bordeaux and the Gironde and the modernization of its equipment to make it more functional. »
Will buyers be generous enough to break the record this year? Assisted by experts Bernard and Emmanuel Brun, Antoine Briscadieu wants to believe it. “We haven’t set ourselves any particular objective, but we obviously want this operation to be a great success. Because it has also become a marker of life in Bordeaux. »
